Chilren are the love of our lives. They are also very squirmy and rebellious and unlikely to sit still for a portrait for longer than half a minute. That's why I take many photographs and collage them, and get creative -- and then use that resulting composition as the source on which I base my oil painting or pastel.

When we brainstorm about what kind of painting you want, feel free to think outside of the box. We can make something more traditional, more casual or formal, more historical or "retro," more whimsical...

Consider where you plan to hang the painting (the front hall, the living room, the child's bedroom, etc.) and the sort of sentimental value you want it to hold for your family, and for future generations.
